He created numerous woodcuts and series of illustrations. The first solo exhibition took place in the Gurlitt Gallery in Berlin in 1934. In 1945 he became head of a class for wall and stained glass painting at the Berlin University of Fine Arts. Exhibitions in Munich, Linz and Würzburg followed in 1953.
