Description: This plant listing is for 1 plant of Helleborus 'BONNY' part of the Hellebore Gold Collection, HGC® Ice Breaker® Series that bears upward-facing large, single-petalled, white colored flowers with pink picotee edges with yellow stamen. Evergreen leaves create year-round interest in the garden. 'Bonny' is an interspecies H. niger (Christmas Rose) and H. x argutifolius, where the breeder used characteristics from both species to create this unique perennial. This beautiful, vigorous perennial starts blooming in December and continuous blooming into March. This hybrid series is considered the hardiest Hellebore Series. Zone 5-8. Mature plant size is 18" x 20" Plant ship either bare root or potted. When shipping bare root plants, it is to keep shipping fees reasonable. This order will ship late September through October 15, when the weather is cooler. Listed plant is approximately 9-12 inches from the plant's crown to the top of the leaves. These plants will bloom the next flowering season. Hellebores are low-maintenance and mostly disease and pest-free. In the spring simply trim back last year's foliage. These hardy plants can adapt to diverse growing conditions. They prefer rich, moist, organic soil but will also grow in clay or sandy soil. Good soil drainage in the soil is important for healthy root development. Once established these plants can tolerate short periods of drought. Soil pH can range from slightly acidic to slightly alkaline. Hellebores are shade plants that need to be protected from the hot afternoon sun. They can grow in full shade under large deciduous trees, but the winter sun helps set their blooms. In the fall heavily mulch the soil at the base of Helleborus plants. In the spring new seedlings will grow in this mulch and can then be transplanted elsewhere in the garden.
