Description: HOTEL RICHARDSON STATIONERY, DOVER, DELAWARE, VINTAGE, FEB 1950 As a package is one original vintage sheet of Hotel Richardson Stationery from 1940s, and a very nice 8 x 10 copy photo of Hotel Richardson. Copy photo is newly made. The original photo by an unknown photographer was made in the mid to early 1930’s judging by the automobiles. The Hotel Richardson stationery is in excellent condition. The front side of the stationery is unused showing the names of the hotel’s managers. The back of the sheet was used as an improvised handwritten receipt by a cash register repairman working for the National Cash Register Company in Wilmington. Receipt is dated 2/23/50.See scans Hotel Richardson was located in the front portion of a triangle where State St. and Kings Highway intersect in the heart of downtown Dover, the capital of the State of Delaware. The Hotel was built in 1882. it was “heated by steam, lighted by gas, supplied with electric bells, and had a basement tap room. The hotel was razed in 1954 after suffering fire damage and disrepair. In its prime, Hotel Richardson was a go-to for celebrities, legislators, and an elegant setting for several governors’ inaugurations.
