Description: This listing is for a Houston Llew Spiritile #045 - The Kiss. I am listing the condition as USED because it shows some wear and tear on it. It does not come in the original box, however it will be shipped with the newer teal colored box. I personally have never hung this tile on my wall, but the wear and tear it shows includes the following: glue from a sticker that has been removed on the back, some denting on one side of the tile (see photo for more info), and there is some separation between the copper sheet and the wood interior. This type of separation between the wood and copper sheet is common with age, and can be repaired with glue. Please note that the dents on one side of the tile were there prior to me purchasing it, so I do not know what caused them. Not only is this a RETIRED Spiritile that is hard to find, but it is also a 1st edition!!! 1st Edition tiles are hand written on the back with the name and number on the back vs. having a stamp like the rest of the Spiritiles produced after the first few, which makes this tile rarer than others produced. The dents on the corners are typical with the production of Spiritiles, especially first edition ones. The list price of current Spiritiles are $199. The quote on the sides: "When we’re two balloons and together our direction is up, chances are we’ve found the right person." - Richard Bach Release Date: November 1, 2009Retirement Date: December 31, 2010Collection: Winter 2009Dimensions: 8.5" x 5.25" x 1.75" Artist Statement: "To the onlooker, the idea of getting a hot air balloon up into the sky seems rather straight forward: with basket attached, use propane tanks to heat the air on the inside of the balloon, until the hot air rises the entire contraption off the ground. However, weather conditions outside of the control of the hot air balloon can keep the team earthbound. This is the basis of Bach's story: if we are two balloons and we can make it up into the sky together, despite the weather, then we're good to fly." These spiritiles are made by hand with USA-sourced copper, glass enamel, and a custom wood box frame out of his studio in Atlanta, GA. Please note that when the copper topped with glass enamel are removed from the kiln, it is then rolled over with a rolling pin to create an effect called crazing. These tiny cracks are seen on the glass enamel which increase the luminescence of the piece. Each piece is unique with crazing. ***I HAVE OTHER CURRENT & RETIRED SPIRITILES THAT I AM SELLING. PLEASE REACH OUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PARTICULAR ONE!*** Please contact me with any questions that you may have. I am happy to take more photos if needed. Thank you :)
