Description: This untitled and undated screenprint by artist Jorge Soto Sanchez's appears to reflect his version of Taino Indian symbols. It's in fair to good condition and has never been used. Colors and paper are strong. There's folding and age spots (See photos). There are two tears on left white border measuring 1/8 and 1/4 of an inch. There are five tears on the right white border measuring 3/4 of an inch, two measuring 1/8 of an inch, one measuring 3/4 of an inch (in the middle) and a two-inch piece of paper torn out (See photo). The lower right corner is folded (See photo). It may have been made in the 1970's and is part of the the Smithsonian American Art Museum's collection in Washington D.C. Jorge Soto Sanchez (1947-1987) was born of Puerto Rican parents in El Barrio, located in East Harlem, New York. He was active in the Neyorican Movement of artists, musicians, writers and poets who sought to affirm their experience as Puerto Ricans in the United States in the 1960's and '70's. He joined the artists collective Taller Boricua in East Harlem and was one of their brightest stars. He was innovative and often blended multiracial African, Caribbean and pre-Columbian motifs in his work. PLEASE ask questions before we ship since we DO NOT ACCEPT RETURNS or SEND REFUNDS.
