Description: This Russian Woman with Babuska Rotating Head Coin Bank by Khokhloma Manufacturing Company of Russia, is in excellent antique condition. The wooden bank, carved from a tree, is a figure of a woman in a painted traditional, Russian, peasant attire. ‘The round head rotates on large side lug nuts. The face has green eyes, eyebrows, nostrils and a wide open mouth - for the money - are seen; the lug nuts are the ears. Below the wide mouth, there appears to be three stick figures with feet holding arms. The arms and crossed hands are seen. The female is wearing a scarf on her head which covers the shoulders and back and is referred to as a babuska in a black color with butterflies in colors of green, red, yellow and tan. There are 2 side cocoons with sprouts. The skirt is a murky green color with small floral designs in colors of green, white, pink and red. The bottom underside appears unpainted and has a dark discoloration mark, the bottom does not appear to be artist signed.’ This is a beautiful, well-made and very collectible bank which is a very collectible piece of Russian Folk Art.
