The kongoken is used to develop grabbing, twisting, and throwing strength. It can also be used in partner drills. You can think of it as a traditional grappling dummy. If you study Goju Ryu you need a kongoken. Your shieko-dachi will thank you. If you don’t study Goju Ryu you can still benefit from the kongoken.
