Description: Selling my old Krell KAV-400xi. This amp was bought new in 2004. The connections work and it will power on and play, but recently the capacitors have gone bad and now considerable distortion can be heard in its sound. I had it looked at by the only guy in town who works on Krell amplifiers, who told me that both the preamp and power amp circuits need new caps. Suggested a total repair cost of about $850 due to the small form factor of the caps Krell likes to squeeze into these units. The front panel buttons (except for the power button and volume knob) also don't work consistently due to a bad microprocessor. This would have to be replaced by an OEM part which are hard to come by these days. Included are the amp, original power cord, and remote control.
