Description: NOTE: I do combine items to save you on shipping cost!This is a fully polished fossil piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a long plant leaf, possibly from ancient grass, with a Lacewing insect (Order Neuroptera). The leaf measures approximately 12 mm (0.47 inches) in length. The leaf would have been from a plant that was on the Earth when dinosaurs still walked! It would have aided in producing oxygen for them to breathe.The piece itself weighs 0.8 grams with approximate dimensions of 1.9 cm length by 1.4 cm width and 0.35 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch. Burmite (Burmese) amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs and is being mined in the Hukawng Valley in Myanmar (Burma).NOTE: I have been selling Burmite (Burmese) amber for years on eBay. However, many amber sources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical (plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are more dense than saltwater and so sink.
