Description: Box: 1 1/4"H x 4"W x 2 3/4"D. Lot of 45 antique U.S. Army buttons in a variety of sizes. The majority of the buttons are marked Waterbury Buttons, a button manufacturing company that began making buttons in 1812. The face of each Waterbury button features a depiction of an eagle with a shield marked "I" or "C." Other buttons are marked "C.T.D." on the backside. The buttons are contained in a small paper box that includes the following inscription:"Old U.S. Army Buttons:C = CalvaryI = Infantry Found, I believe, by my father - A.C. Anderson, years ago in Dakota in an abandoned cabin. Doubtless a souvenir of Custer days." Wear includes patina, discoloration, bent loops, and other wear consistent with age and use.
