Up for sale is a vintage Ludwig Jazzette 4pc drum set. This is a completed project kit built around four 1960s 3ply shells that were professionally rewrapped, repainted (interiors), and re-edged by Nodar Rode. The tom shells both have a mahogany inner ply and maple outer ply, which means they were most-likely originally finished with “Duco” lacquer and not wrapped. The bass drum has an outer ply of mahogany and inner ply of maple, and was originally wrapped in very faded Sky Blue Pearl. A double tom mount had been installed in the top of the shell and the hole was plugged with a piece of drum shell. There was also a support plate cut from another piece of drum shell installed underneath the rail/tom mount location inside the bass drum shell. The hardware is all period-correct vintage Ludwig parts except for the 12” tom hoops, one of the 14” tom hoops, and some washers. The round-knob tom mufflers are not present but there are holes drilled for them. The Keller maple bass drum hoops were cut and painted by Precision Drum Company in NY with brand new Delmar silver sparkle inlay installed. 18” x 12” Bass Drum12” x 8” Mounted Tom 14” x 14” Floor Tom 14” x 5” Snare Drum Cosmetically these drums are in excellent shape. The wrap is still pretty new with a lot of shine and very little wear. The interiors are also still fresh and clean from their repainting, and the edges have been recut to their original profile. The chrome does show signs of wear in places, but mostly scratches and scuffs from years of regular use. Very little pitting and rust. Functionally these drums tune up and sound great. Remo heads appear to fit but are a bit snug, especially when they are brand new. Evans fit much easier so we used those. Please ask questions before buying, and please see our other listings.
