No wonder the Bridge Authority has begun replacing these sections, as they have done their duty for decades. LEAD PAINT DISCLOSURE (HOLD HARMELSS AGREEMENT):The used steel grating traffic deck sections removed from the Mackinac Bridge have been painted with lead-based paint. This coating existed on the grating at the time of removal from the Bridge and at the time of the original sale of the used grating. The remaining components of the existing paint on the grating is unknown.I understand that the used grating is painted with lead-based paint and that lead based paint is a hazardous material. I understand that wastes that are hazardous must be properly stored, treated, and disposed of in accordance with the Federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
