Published by J-Tank Publishers in Japan, this 7.25 x 10 inch, 16 page pictorial addresses the single British Mark IV (‘Dai Ichi Gou Kinen Sensha’) sent to Japan in October 1918. The Japanese had not been directly involved in the European land war but recognized the potential for AFVs. As a result, they imported British and French tanks for evaluation, and eventually decided on the French Renault FT-17 as the main ‘blueprint’ tank for future Japanese design. But before deciding, the British Mark IV and its British crew was put through its paces and thoroughly evaluated in Japan. This book, though written in Japanese, is nicely illustrated and shows these evaluations of the Mark IV in Japan – the largely half page photographs are mostly black and white but a few color photographs taken from postcards are also provided. Even with Japanesse text, this book is fascinating if you are a fan of early Japanese AFVs ….. Condition is BRAND NEW.
