Martin introduced them during World War II when spruce was hard to come by, and it turns out mahogany thrives as a top wood. It has great projection and clarity, but it's a touch warmer and more consistent across the EQ spectrum than spruce. Fingerpickers will certainly dig the natural balance between the lows and highs, especially with the smaller 00 body size. Strummers will appreciate the way that simple open-position chords blend together. Recording is a breeze with these guitars as well - you won't get as many weird EQ spikes in certain places. The 00 body style is comfortable and sleek, the neck is comfortable and the mellow finish is easy on the eyes. This is a very cool, useful guitar. This body shape is my personal favorite for its projection and ease of playability. It can be a lot more ergonomic than a dreadnought and easier to maneuver around. There's a slightly less pronounced low-end than a dread, but more mid range focus and punch. This one's an easy buy.
