Description: This large size 1779 Massachusetts note is a Pine Tree-vignetted bond type used to support the State Lottery funding. Printed by Nathaniel Hurd on laid paper. Interestingly, the pine tree is encircled by a rattlesnake eating its own tail. The top of the note features a grand gothic title. The bottom states “DEATH TO COUNTERFEIT THIS”. This note is serial numbered 2004 and issued 15 pounds on June 1, 1779 bearing 6% interest. Signed by two committee members and the treasurer. Gorgeous large size note.
