Description: Exceptional 1800s-1900s 8 string Banjo Mandolin / Banjolin featuring an extremely rare hexagonal resonator body. The tailpiece is Marcelli, suggesting it's a German-made instrument, however the design could possibly reflect a French instrument as well. The maker is unknown to me as I did not disassemble it. This unique mandolin banjo is in outstanding condition, and fully playable. Intricate handmade inlays and carvings on the hexagonal shaped wooden resonator reflect various folk traditions and musical depictions.
