"Rudolf Carl Mueller was born in 1867 in Thorn, a section of Germany that is now Poland. At the age of 15, he was apprenticed to a decorative painter for three years, then studied art in Bonn, Berlin and Paris before immigrating to the United States in 1892. After his arrival in New York City, he created decorative paintings and murals for private homes and public buildings in the New York area and as far west as Chicago and San Francisco. For many years Mueller's work could be viewed at two New York City landmark: Schrafft's Restaurant, where he painted the decorative ceiling." Measures 11" W x 16" H.
