On reverse is Mane nobiscum Domine or Stay with us O Lord. This particular medal of the Holy Face of was designed by Sr. Maria Pierina De Micheli in 1938. It was designed as a weapon against hatred towards God and the Church. In its complete design the engraved medal provides a twofold communication, one on its obverse or prominent side, another on its reverse. Considering the former we see depicted the Face of Jesus (reconstructed from the Holy Shroud) bearing the inscription "illumina Domine Vultum Tuum super nos" (may the light of your Face, O Lord, shine upon us). It captures and expresses in a remarkable way the meaning of the sacrifice of the cross by which He accomplished redemption.On the reverse side of the - medal is a host surrounded by rays with the following words: Mane nobiscum Domine" (Stay with us, O Lord).
