MIRIAM HASKELL 50’S LARIAT: Green Faux Jade & Carnelian Red Beads White Baroque Faux Pearl Ice Montée ~ Gold Gilt Brass Accents ~ Signed For your consideration, A RARE AND EXQUSITELY BEAUTIFUL single string/strand rope lariat. The necklace was designed and hand made for Miriam Haskell CIRCA in the 1950's. The necklace features faux jade and carnelian polished beads/polished stones. The beads are rondelle shaped and are accentuated white baroque glass pearls. Ice clear montée clusters form stations anchoring the beads and pearls in place, so there is minor slippage. The beads/stones and pearls are accentuated by corrugated bead caps. The dangles on either end of the lariat are tassels and attached to stationed faux jade beads attached to one another by gold gilt brass wire. The tassel is designed with a small white baroque pearl dangle attached to huge rondelle green faux jade and carnelian beads. The faux pearls are adorned with gold gilt filigree bead caps. I have tried my best to describe how exquisitely beautiful this necklace is but, please take a look at the pictures, it is worth a thousand words and you will see how gorgeous the piece is. It is very beautiful to see and wear. The necklace is a lariat so there is no hook or clasp. It is worn wrapped around the neckline tied and/or draped to fastens. It is signed “MIRIAM HASKELL” on a hang tag which is attached near the tassel. The hang tag is embossed on both sides. This particular tag was used CIRCA the 1950's and is indicative of the age of the piece. The beads/stones, pearls and brass accents used in construction of the necklace are of the best quality and contribute to its smooth finish, exquisite beauty and well preserved condition. It will appreciate in value over the years if gently worn and carefully stored.DIMENSIONS & WEIGHT: All measurements are approximate and taken at longest/widest points.Necklace ~ 42 ”L including the dangles. It is heavy and weighs a whopping 213 grams. CONDITION: Please note this is pre-owned 1950's vintage jewelry which has been gently worn. It originally belonged to my grandmother and then to my mother and has been in storage in a dust free and temperature controlled storage facility since I received it a couple years ago. The necklace looks well preserved. The nacre of the faux glass pearls in the necklace is in fairly good condition with a good shiny luster. The pearls are all well preserved and I have not seen any spots of wear, stripping or peeling of the nacre. I have tried to show in a close up picture. The faux jade beads have no noticeable bruises or cracks. The faux carnelian red rondelle beads have retained their vibrant rich red color. The ice clear crystals of the rose montée are all sparkly and bright. The threading has no fraying, or stretching. The gold gilt brass is tarnish is fairly shiny with some having slightly discolored look with a Russian Gold hue. The ice clear crystals are all sparkly, no darken or cloudiness and the cabochons are well preserved, and have retained their beautiful rich color. They have no cracks, bruises or scratches. The hang tag and other findings have tarnish and slight wear. Please remember that this set is true vintage jewelry. The necklace is over 70 years old, however, it is still quite beautiful and the wear is consistent with age and not distracting or unsightly. Overall, this necklace is in FLAWLESS VINTAGE CONDITION.Note: Tarnish and patina are part of the nature of brass and this develops over time. The tarnish may be cleaned, but, it does add to the vintage charm and it is not distracting or unsightly. It will not soil your garment. Additionally, also REMEMBER, THAT MOST VINTAGE PIECES ARE FRAGILE DUE TO AGE and should be gently worn and handled with care. This item is being SOLD AS IS. ABSOLUTELY NO OVERSEAS RETURNS.
