Description: Model Shipways MS4006 Guns of History Field Artillery 8-pounder 1750-1820 GUNS of HISTORY by Model Shipways (USA) 1:24 SCALE non-firing model kit Precision Cast Metal Parts This mobile, double-trailed field cannon was one of the most important artillery pieces of the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. The large wheels attached to a field carriage allowed commanders to rapidly position the gun in response to ever-changing battlefield conditions. Gunnery crews fired one of three types of ammunition: solid ball, primarily used to destroy forts and other cannon, and both grape shot and canister shot against advancing enemy troops. The field cannon had a flat trajectory that allowed the ball to “bounce” across the battlefield and plow through enemy troop formations. As a result, it inflicted heavy casualties. • Historically accurate and perfectly scaled • Cleanly cast Britannia metal components • Authentically detailed cannon barrel • One-piece ready to assemble wheels • Clearly written illustrated instructions • Easy to build - assembly and painting time 5-10 hours • Length 6-1/2" • Width 3-3/4" • Height 2-3/4" • Scale: 1:24
