Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Here we have a serious skullcrusher of a CD from one of the hardest-hitting ensembles of the Japanese rock underground, the mighty MUSICA TRANSONIC: their self-titled debut, issued in 1995 by the sacred PSF label. Musica Transonic is an all-star power trio comprised of bassist Asahito Nanjo (High Rise, Mainliner), guitarist Makoto Kawabata (Acid Mothers Temple, Toha Sara) and drummer Tatsuya Yoshida (Ruins, Koenjihyakkei, YBO2). The obi describes them as "contemporary improvised heavy psychedelic group," which is certainly true enough… though Musica Transonic takes the concept of heavy psych way further than Blue Cheer could have imagined. Their music is pure needle-in-the-red raging rock overload, a virulent strain of guitar distortion and amp overload capable of blowing your mind, speakers and lease simultaneously, raw as a winter night in Alaska. The playing is fantastic, the sound hot and immediate, the inspiration at a peak. Musica Transonic is a crucial piece of experimental Japanese rock, and a must-own item for fans of the participants. (Our only question: why are the track titles in Greek?) The CD is near mint, and the obi is intact and included.
