Description: Original NASA Apollo Saturn Rocket Instrument Unit Artifact * Vintage NASA Apollo, Saturn Rocket, Instrument Unit, Telemetry Subcarrier Oscillator, Flight Hardware * The Telemetry Flight Boxes used aboard the Saturn Rocket were critical in assessing the status of all of the components before, during and after launch from Kennedy Space Center. This subcarrier oscillator was designed to produce a carrier frequency on which select telemetry data were transmitted, and it can be seen in the second and third reference photo showing this artifact installed (this telemetry unit model incorporated multiple subcarrier oscillators). It was designed by the engineers at Marshall Space Flight Center for the Saturn Moon Rocket. This device contains an array of micro-electronic components that were built to NASA "Manned Mission Rated" standards. The precious metal gold was incorporated throughout this module to shield it from any stray, external noise signals. Subcarrier Oscillators (NOT included in this sale - The I.U. Subcarrier Oscillator offered for sale in this listing will remain sealed), two photos of the Saturn I.U. Flight Box top level interior from which this device originated and a photo of the same Saturn I.U. Flight Box's NASA data plate (The Flight Box and contents are NOT included in this sale - They are shown here for provenance verification only). This sale will include the one I.U. Subcarrier Oscillator unit shown in the first eight listing photos. NASA Apollo engineer, Charles H. Bell, originally purchased this artifact from the Kennedy Space Center back in the 1970s. An intricately designed spacecraft instrument built to the most exceptional standards required of the Apollo Moon missions! We require that all potential buyers read our 'FAQ and Terms of Sale' section, at the bottom of each listing, prior to purchase, offer or bid placement and inquiries. FAQ & Terms of Sale:* Artifact Inquiries: Please submit all questions regarding listed artifacts, prior to purchase or bid placement, and allow at least 24 hours for a response. Write in anytime with all other questions or special artifact requests. If any of this type of provenance/paperwork is not shown in the photos and specified as "included" in the listing, then it is not available or included in the sale.* Artifact Flight Status: FLOWN Hardware = Spacecraft hardware/components, crew equipment, scientific instruments, or other items/materials that have been flown. FLIGHT Hardware = Spacecraft flight-qualified spares or backup hardware/components and engineering test articles made of the same components as the flight article. These are items that could have flown but were not flown. Ground Support Equipment (GSE) = Non-flight space program hardware, equipment, and scientific Instruments used in direct association with the spacecraft, spacecraft engineers, and technicians. These are items that were used and made for ground support that may or may not have been in direct contact with the spacecraft prior to launch.* All items listed here are being sold as collectible artifacts only, and although they may be in perfect working order, we are not able to test them for functionality.* International Customers: Most artifacts will ship internationally.
