The Call of Cthulhu roleplay game was based upon the H P Lovecraft horror genre of books that were written from the beginning of the last century. The game is an excellent use of genre and storytelling. One of the best things about Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu game is its use of props. Being able to find and handle physical items that bring you deeper into the game is a big part of the fun. I mean how often do you find a book, or item in the game, and are handed a picture of it, or it is just described. Imagine actually handing it out in the game, to be passed round to whoever dares to look at it, and make the San check. These are superb replicas of four pages of the Necronomicon, from a copy of the Dee translation. That's two sheets of aged paper with four sides / pages in total. The text, typography and artwork from this 1662 publication have been recreated in exhaustive detail, and carefully printed on paper similar to the original. Each page has then been painstakingly hand-aged to give them the look and feel of the actual Maxwell edition of John Dee's English translation of the Necronomicon. You'll find various other reproduction pages from the Book of the Dead, but not to this standard. To top it off, the pages come packaged in an Arkham Police Evidence Envelope, which on the back has even been sealed evidence taped. The pages feature John Dee's translation and notes on the book's discussion of the Elder Sign and its use. This awesome prop is suitable for collectors, LARP gamers, and any other weird folk who would like to own a few pages of Lovecraftian history. A nice gift, or useful as a Halloween decoration.
