Description: New old stock Western Forge 5848 3/8"-drive knurled handle reversible ratchet, made in the USA by Wright Tool and Forge Company. Rare Western Forge branding. Most Western Forge tools were made for Craftsman (marked WF on Craftsman tools), but this is rare old surplus from when they experimented with selling tools under their own name (around 1978). Wright Tool actually made these ratchets for Western Forge during this time period, while Western Forge released a few of their own tools under their own name as well (such as screwdrivers, pliers, and adjustable wrenches - see my other auctions). Sears/Craftsman got upset and all Western Forge branded tools, including these ratchets produced under contract production by Wright, were quickly discontinued. Rare new old stock.
