Description: NEW YORK BEAUTIFUL Written and Illustrated by WALLACE NUTTING With 292 Photographs ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Hardcover with dust jacket; 305 pages; Size Approx. 6 1/4 X 9 1/4. Published by Bonanza Books; 1988. Details: "A state touching the sea and the two great lakes, Ontario and Erie, and having within it or bordering it Lake Champlain and Lake George, with the Finger Lakes counted as five but in reality twice that number; a state with the vast Adirondack wilderness, as large as Connecticut, in the north, with the Catskill and Allegheny reservations beside; a state whose entrance is the Hudson and whose back door is Niagara; a state so overwhelming in the range of its attractions that it is little short of presumption to depict its beauties in one book -- New York is worthy of a pictorial library. But there is another aspect of New York little known to the traveler and never listed among its attractions. Those innumerable green hills, thrice as many as Vermont can show, from the lower Hudson to Buffalo, are among the deeply satifying visions which never pall, with which we live and about which we throw affectionate chords--these are among the greatest beauties of the state of New York. Or to the stale traveler who has flitted from high point to high point, a month among the orchards, seldom broken, from the mouth of the Niagara to Rochester for another hundred miles, must convey the impression that here is the paradise of the fruit tree." (from the dust jacket flap) The book has a navy blue hard cover binding with gilt lettering on the spine; illustrated with many lovely black and white photographs. A fine addition for your bookshelf! Condition: There is some tape residue on the free endpaper in the front; otherwise, the book is in very good condition with a firm binding and clean pages. The dust jacket has a crease on the front cover; otherwise it is in very good condition.* * * * * * * * Note: The letter/number at the end of the title line for this listing is just an inventory code for locating the book. ______________________________________ Free Domestic Economy Shipping! Be assured that we want your experience with Rivendell Antiquarian Books to be enjoyable and problem free. We believe that it is a travesty to simply throw away a used book when there is little or nothing wrong with it - we believe in giving each book the chance of finding a new home. We appreciate the impact a good book can have. We know the excitement of a new page turner, or the familiar joy of an old favorite, and we find satisfaction in putting older, and often scarce books in the hands of people who have the same love for old books that we do.Customer Service:Rivendell Antiquarian Books is committed to ensuring each customer is entirely satisfied with their puchase and our service. If you have any issues or concerns please contact us and we will be more than happy to help. Our books have been inspected carefully by hand by experienced book valuers to ensure the condition description is as accurate as possible for this exact copy pictured. If you have questions about the book before or after purchasing, please feel free to contact us!Packaging:We take pride in packaging our books for safe delivery, and if you check our feedback, you will see this reflected in the comments of many pleased customers. For nearly all of our books, we use a specially designed boxing system from IPS (Inovative Packaging Solutions) located in York, PA. These media shipping boxes are designed to conform to the size of the book, securing it and preventing it from bumping around during shipping. The end result is a box which provides a double thickness of cardboard covering the front and back of the book; actually almost like a box within a box. The outer layer of cardboard extends beyond the ends of the inner "box" which very efficiently protects the corners of the book from being bumped and damaged by the sometimes rough handling packages receive in transit. In addition we place the book in a plastic bag to help guard against moisture if a package is left out in the elements.Delivery:We aim to get all books shipped within 24 hours of order except on weekends. We can't control the delivery time once a book leaves our hands, but most of the time USPS is prompt in delivery, and the expected delivery time given by eBay is usually fairly accurate. Because we use media mail to keep costs down, it does take a little longer for delivery, and occasionally packages get delayed in the mail system. If for some reason your order has not arrived within the expected time frame, please get in contact with us so that we can try to help you.
