Description: This is the 2002 issued DVD of Murnau's Nosteratu, the 1995 David Shepard restoration with new details and more accurate tinting than other versions had before. There has since been a 2006 restoration based on a new French print with slightly different shots and edits and approach to title cards but it's not necessarily "better", just a different construction based on a different surviving print. Since then apparently all new editions of Nosferatu have been the 2006 restoration. Here we have 2 that do not appear on any other in-print editions: a more standard "spooky" score by Gerard Hourbette and Thierry Zaboitzeff, as well as one by Donald Sosin which includes some vocalizations/ chanting. The 1995 restoration is also on the Region B BFI blu-ray but without the 5 "act breaks" title cards that we see here.
