Description: Original oil painting by German/Czech painter Karl Krattner (1862-1926). The painting is an oil on mahogany wood panel and is a remarkable character study of self assured young tradesman. The reverse of the painting is labeled for the Ran Gallery, Cincinatti's preeminent gallery for 19th Century artworks, they sold this painting in 1980 and I have the original sale receipt. The oil signed in the upper left and dated 1887. It measures 12 3/4 x 9 1/4 inches, with its period frame it is 20 1/4 x 17 inches. The frame looks to be original and has an old Prague framer's label, it has some chips and dings along the edges but overall is in fine shape, the painting is in excellent condition.
