Description: Mid 19th century violin. (1845-1875) Beautiful Amati copy made by unknown luthier as there is no label but for a facsimile of Amati. It was probably made as one of the finer violin out of Markneukirchen, according to luthier’s evaluation. Sound: excellent projection, clear and bright with lots of overtones in the upper registers. Dark and warm in the lower. This violin is very responsive. Goes from pianissimo to Forte easily. It doesn’t take much to get this violin to speak. The top is thin and of very fine straight grain. There are a few old but well done and stable repairs as you can see . 1. ribs and the back where the neck is attached. 2. Lower ribs near the end pin. 3. Scroll repairs It is a lovely violin with beautiful wide flamed back and a rich reddish brown varnish. Was just expertly serviced and is ready to play with new dominant strings.
