Description: ONE OF A KIND STUDIO ARTIST STONEWARE POT This listing features a hand-thrown pot with an illegible signature underneath. This is the work of a contemporary fine potter who may have been remembering the rustic 19th-century food pot used by Van Gogh to hold those famous sunflowers (see last photo). It measures approximately 6 inches tall by 5 1/2 inches in diameter and is in pristine condition. It’s very sturdy and gloss-glazed inside and out so it can also hold water for fresh flowers. Van Gogh’s pot would have been used as a grease pot but I’ll bet it usually held his paint brushes. Although simple and classic in shape, the colors chosen for this listing’s pot are not. They are a clever and surprising combination. It's hard to see in the photos, but there is the slightest touch of blue under the dark line around the mid-point. This is easy to overlook but the quality of the work is not, nor is the daring shade of blue chosen to distinguish the interior. Depending on your monitor, the red in the photos may read brighter or flat but first hand, it is dark reddish brown with visual texture.
