Description: This is an Original Swiss Army WWI M1899 Bayonet & Scabbard made by Schmidt Rubin Neuhausen. This Bayonet and Scabbard are in Very Good Condition. NOTE*** The Bayonet edge appears to have been sharpened with a file possibly. It does not look ground, but there are scratches along the edge consistent with a file. The Scabbard has a ding as well. This is shown in close up in the last three pictures. Official Swiss records refer to his bayonet as both the Model 1899 and Model 1911. As the bayonet was first issued in the late 1890s, the designation 1899 would seem to be more correct. As noted above, the Model 1899 added an arresting bar in the fuller to help keep the bayonet in the scabbard. Note: the arresting bar is in both fullers.
