Description: This auction is for a Original WWI US National Army 1917 First Draft Celebration Medal Very nice original item. Full size medal with original ribbon. Made and marked by Bastion Brothers Rochester NY. On May 18, 1917, Congress passed the Selective Service Act, which authorized the Federal Government to temporarily expand the military through conscription. The act eventually required all men between the ages of 21 to 45 to register for military service. On October 20 the first National Army Draft was conducted, members of the draft were awarded this medal. See my other auctions with military and other items! Please feel free to ask any questions.
