Nichols & Co., Springfield, MA, 1878. Illustrated. HC. Measures 7.5” x 11.” A stunning presentation of 100 memorable events in the first century of the United States. There are hundreds of illustrations and over 1,000 pages, including the index. There is also a beautiful, color plate. All edges of this very heavy book are gilt. Please note – the spine cover has detached from the text block in the back (as shown, please see photo) – but all pages are holding. Priced to reflect this. Condition: The covers and spine have various signs of age wear – please see the photos for the best description. The inside cover is reinforced with binding tape. The text block has completely detached from the spine in the back – please see photo. However, all pages are holding – and the actual binding of the text block is relatively good, with light splitting. One page has a torn corner, which is laid in the page – and all text is available. Occasional small, closed tear in margin. Occasional stain or spot in the text, but overall, the majority of the pages are clean and in good condition. Light tanning to the pages. Light foxing / staining to the endpages. The initial endpage is starting to detach at the bottom, but is holding. Despite the age flaws, still a nice copy for its age.
