Pair ANTIQUE TRANSFERWARE TEA CUP & SAUCER, Tea Party Pattern C 1820

Description: This pair of Georgian Transferware cup and saucers are perfect for your next cuppa. Generous sized tea bowls decorated with transfer print of pastoral scenes in classic rich blue and white. The pattern is “Tea Party” which was famously made by Spode and others. On one side of the tea cup and repeating on the saucer, the pattern shows a couple having tea outside accompanied by a dog and served by a man in the distance. The other side of the tea cup features a shepherd with his flock and sheep dog. Beautifully capturing the idealized version of country life as popular in the early nineteenth century. The saucers measure approximately 5.75 inches in diameter, have a 2 inch well and taper to a 3 inch foot. The teacups measure approximately 3.75 inch in diameter and sit 2.75 inches high. The pieces are largely unmarked (one saucer appears to have a 2 printed in blue) but all have the slightly blue glaze pooling on reverse. The item(s) are antique and sold as is. They may show wear, fading, scratches, chips, cracks, original imperfections and/or damage from normal use. I note a crack on one teacup starting from the rim as shown in photos. There is also a repair or firing blemish to rim, also shown in photos. Examine photos carefully as they are part of the description. Imperfections were factored into pricing. No returns or refunds.
