Description: Papal States Stamps: 1868: 40c black/yellow; Used on Piece; SG52; CV £160 Note in this issue the original stamps have continuous horizontal frame lines and discontinuous vertical frame lines. The reprints have continuous vertical frame lines and discontinuous horizontal frame lines. The originals are perforation 13 - 15. The reprints are typically perforation 11.5. Note colour contrast between the stamp and background has been changed in the certificate to create enough contrast to allow the computer program to determine the number of perforations per 2 cm. The colour analysis gives the yellow background and the black overprint of the stamp picture. Further details of this issue are found in 016671105.pdf (rpsl.org.uk) https://www.rpsl.org.uk/gplstatic/BL_CrawfordDocs/016671105.pdf The Roman States by L.W.Fulcher 1912 Philatelic Record v.34 Computer Generated Grading CertificatesThe computer-generated grading certificates when present, are created by placing a 600 dpi scan of the stamp into the Rakum Stamp Analyzer program. The program automatically calculates, and displays on the certificate 1. Number of perforations per 2 cm2. PSE centring grade for the frame relative to the perforations3. Size of the frameNo account is taken in the grading of faults or appearance. Computer Generated Colour AnalysesThe computer-generated colour analyses when present, are created by placing a 600 dpi scan of the stamp into the Trigit program, and then selecting areas for colour analysis The program automatically calculates, and displays 1. Saturation % of red, green, blue 2. The number of pixels associated with each colour 3. The hexadecimal code of the measured colour The most common way to analytically represent colour is via a 6-digit alpha-numeric HEX number, RGBA, and HSL Hex is a 6-digit, 24 bit, hexidecimal number that represents Red, Green, and Blue. There are 16 million possible colours. RGBA is similar to Hex in that it has 24 bits for RGB colour, bit there is an additional 8 bit value for transparency. HSL stands for Hue, Saturation, and Lightness. The values are based on a position from the centre of a colour wheel. The value for Hue is from 0 to 360, representing the degrees on a colour wheel. Saturation is the distance from the centre of the colour wheel. The L stands for Lightness, which represents the luminance. A large colour block with the observed Hex number can be created using online programs e.g. [www.hexcolortool.com/#ff0008], to allow easy visual comparison REQUESTING AN INVOICE If you are purchasing multiple items and would like an invoice with the correct P&P before paying for your items please select the [Request Total] button which is located on the top right of your shopping Cart Page.
