It is the original cord. •• There is a metal turn knob to turn light on. Turn once for bottom light to come on ( that bulb is supplied and installed in lamp). Turn twice for bulb on top to come on. You must supply that bulb. •• The Brass top and base stand is thick heavy and ornatly carved. It is RARE I have never seen this pattern or style before. •• This lamp does appear to have been modified by previous owner. It appears that they bent off the lamp metal shade holders off the top, now you must find a shade that fits on a light bulb or a fancy light. •• Please check out photos as they show all the changes in the lamp and uniqueness of the lamp and the rarities of the brass.
