High protein (over 20%) generates uric acid & uric acid is bad for most reptiles. Our roach chow also contains a high amount of calcium, which keeps the Ca:P ratio balanced. Ca:P ratio is the ratio of Calcium to Phosphorus in a food source. Both minerals are important for the health and well being of your pet but it is vitally important to maintain a significantly higher Calcium than Phosphorus intake to prevent bone issues in reptiles. This nutritionally rich diet also helps improve growth and reproduction among your roaches or crickets, but even if you aren’t a roach or cricket breeder, healthy food translates to healthy pets. For insects like crickets and roaches, simply grow the crystals overnight and place them in a small dish for a safe and drown-free water source!
