Description: New Royal Premium Power Supply (1984-88) New Royal Premium Replacement Power Supply The internal power supply in the 1984-1988 Corvette Digital Cluster Instrument Panel Gauge is a common source of failure. Electrolytic capacitors dry out then short, the switching transistor leads break internally, and failed alternators and 24V jump starts cause overvoltage which destroys the supply. This is a completely redesigned, NEW, modern power supply which is an exact replacement for the factory power supply. This power supply was designed for maximum efficiency, which means less power dissipated inside the digital cluster. When the car is off, the Royal Premium power supply draws just microamps to preserve battery life when the car is stored for long periods of time. This is less than 10% of the factory power supply! When the car is on, the supply dissipates much less heat inside the already overworked digital cluster. It is made with modern low-mass surface mount components to minimize the effects of vibration and maximize reliability. It includes six (6) capacitors to filter the input, and another six (6) capacitors to filter the output, while still staying within the manufacturers recommendations. An onboard microcontroller monitors the output, and LEDs indicates both proper output voltages, as well as error conditions.
