Thanks Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria) should really be called magenta loosestrife, the color of this stunning plant is a brillant and beautiful magenta color, quite striking against a background of green. This plant is thought of as a invasive in many areas and in need of irradication, I think we'll find "invasive" plants arrive when we need them for whatever issue is plaguing humans or the earth at that time. The plant is both a strong astringent and a mucilaginous herb proving helpful for issues such as diahrrea and leaky gut syndrome, tightening and soothing tissues, with an ability to stop or slow hemorrhaging as well. For these reasons I make my tincture from the flowering tops, the flowers are mucilaginic and the leaves and stems hold the astsringent properties of the plant, in this fashions I should gain both aspects in my tincture. Interestingly, when decanting the tincture, you can see some of the mucilaginous qualities in the resulting product. Research has suggested antibacterial properties making it a good choice for bacterial infections that affect more delicate tissues such as vaginosis when diluted in water as a douche. Tea may be of help with most of these issues, but its nice to have the plant tinctured for times when you can't get your hands on fresh material. Energetically this plant is cooling and drying. This is an alcohol tincture. Not to be used on a long-term basis, because of its high concentration of tannins and calcium oxaltes. Dosages vary depending on use, but I always recommend starting with 3 to 5 drops, 3 to 4 times a day. For many people, the use of natural medicines is an odyssey of learning about themselves. Finding the "right dose" of a particular plant for your body is a lesson and you learn to pay attention to little nuances and signals your body gives you when you have taken too much or not enough. For this reason the dosages on the bottle and website are rather vague. This is to help you find the smallest effective dose for your body. Why take more medicine than you need, right! Just like every plant, every person is different. Returns: I am not accepting returns because of the resale safety issue of the products. Even though the bottle caps may be sealed, the stoppers bulbs are soft rubber thus not tamper proof; and oils and ointments are not sealed. Returns would have to be disposed of and that would be wasteful and not respectful of the plants medicine. Thanks everyone. Note: The above information is for educational purposes only.
