Description: Represented here are ghost towns north of Leadville that were in business at the time this map was made. This antique topographic map was published by the United States Geological Survey. A legend on the back (see photo) explains that these maps were a work in progress to map the terrain of the entire country. Buildings and roads as well as terrain are represented. surveyed: 1880-82 edition: 1897 printed: 1897 size: 16.5” x 20” The maps I’m selling were found in one large stack a few inches thick as if most were never handled. This resulted in the printed part remaining untouched and in exceptional condition with any damage at the edges. Many are near mint condition. I have made an attempt to draw your attention to each map’s issues with descriptions and photos. These maps came from my great grandfathers home in New Hampshire. He graduated from the University of Maine as a Civil Engineer in 1906. He designed the placement of railroad track. I expect he purchased these then and did not use them as they appear unhandled. Their condition is more impressive than my photos can show. I’ll send it rolled in a USPS mailing tube. Shipping and insurance through USPS. If you buy two or more maps, I will charge for shipping once and ship them together.
