Goupil GravureThe variant photogravure process perfected in 1872 by Henri Rousselon of Goupil & Cie in France. Goupil gravures, used by the company to make art reproductions, allowed for a deep, velvety black, the separation of tones, and a crisp image. Gaston Braun owned a number of companies including Adolphe Braun et Cie which was founded in 1876. With the assistance of Louis Pierson and Léon Clément the company developed and in 1889 took the name Braun, Clément et Cie. This continued until 1910 when the name became Braun et Cie.
