Description: This is the very first model of the M1942 Gasoline cooking stoves developed in early WWII.This example was built in 1943 by Aladdin and comes with a matching 1943 can that doubled as a carrying container as well as cooking pots. These early cans were made of Galvanized steel and were considered too heavy so were replaced by the familiar Aluminum can. These early stoves were known as a "wheel" stove because of their flame adjusting wheel, which also proved to be less that great because it got so hot after a few minutes that you couldn't adjust it without burning your fingers. A bad design that resulted in very limited production before being replaced by the familiar Bakelite knob located further away from the burner. These stoves were made of steel and many rusted through, especially when you consider that they were used in snowy wet conditions adding to their rarity. Later models were made from stainless steel and that's another reason why they are quite common compared to these. These stoves alone are difficult to find but one with it's matching can is a big bonus. Most Military collections are missing these early stoves because they are so seldom encountered. Overall in very well used condition it's complete other than the spare parts which were stored in the pump handle, they are missing. No idea if the stove functions as I've never tried lighting it.
