Description: OLD MEXICO ANCIENT EAGLE HALLMARK STERLING SILVER AND GOLD SMALLER SIZED CA. 1930’s to 1940’S HORSE & HORSESHOE BELT BUCKLE—- This very old pre-owned Belt Buckle will soon be approaching 100 years old. We are uncertain as to the exact maker, but it is hallmarked with an older design Mexican eagle stamp, as shown in our photos. Experts will undoubtedly recognize the design as being associated with a maker from that era because the quality of this little buckle is high end. The horse and horseshoe have some amount of gold because they would not have maintained the luster and shine present if they were bronze or brass. We have not tested the gold portions and so we are not certain of the exact content. It features a Buckle clasp design used during the mid 20th century. The dimensions of the buckle are A SMALLER SIZED 1 3/4” x 1 1/8”, and it has a clasp opening to accept belts up to 3/4” wide. Yes……it is a small Buckle, but a very impressive one. We have never come across another like it. The total weight is 30 grams or just over one ounce on our scale. Lastly, we want to comment that the engraving on this buckle and on the gold images is very highly detailed and of expert quality.
