Description: Rare Early 1970's Triptych Painting by Edward Knippers. This is an unsigned early work of Edward Knippers. He painted it while attending the University of Tennessee. I have spoken with Mr. Knippers regarding this Triptych Painting set. I have emails from him confirming that he painted it and the order in which it is to be hung. The overall size of the Triptych is 53 1/2" wide by 36" tall. Edward Knippersis an American artist. His major works are large scale paintings depicting biblical narratives and frequently featuring nude figures. He has a unique style. His work is found in many private and public collections including the Vatican Museum of Contemporary Religious Art in Rome. Edward Knippers attendedAsbury CollegeinWilmore, Kentuckywhere he attained a BA in fine arts. He then studied at theUniversity of Tennesseeand attained a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting. This is the period that the Triptych was painted. He also studied in the studios ofZao Wou-Kiin 1970 and Otto Eglau in 1976 at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts inSalzburg. In 1976, he was awarded the Prize of Salzburg in print-making. In 1980, he was a fellow atS. W. Hayter'sAtelier 17inParis. The Triptych Set is in very good condition.
