Description: Pre-Mattel Pleasant Company, beautiful 18" Addy Walker American Girl Doll in mint condition - in original box with hair still intact in netting. She is still wearing her wrist tag. Addy comes with the "Meet Addy" paperback book (unread) and booklet, "Addy Walker." She has the words "Pleasant Company" stamped on the back of her neck with no additional numbers. Condition: Addy is new in her box, and never played with. The box has some dents and stains from age and storage, but the doll is in mint condition. Her hair is in the original hair net (net was removed briefly, and doll was removed from box briefly for photos). The elastic bands around her ankles (part of the packaging) is missing, but all parts of the doll, outfit, and book are included. There is some minor silvering around the edge of her right eye. Box has initials ADP. Outfit: Addy is dressed in her first edition Meet Outfit. She wears a double pink (or cinnamon pink) day dress. Fabric has fine white wavy lines and dots in vertical "stripes". Dropped shoulders. Straight sleeves. Rounded collar. Translucent white buttons down the front of the dress. Black knit stockings, black lace-up boots, white cotton "drawers" trimmed with lace, and a navy blue satin hair ribbon. Two small hoop earrings. Addy's First Edition Meet Outfit was significant to the stories because it is the first clothing she received after escaping enslavement to freedom. It is a gift from Miss Caroline and was a sample of the clothing style of the day for young girls. About Pleasant Company: Pleasant Company was founded in 1986 by Pleasant Rowland in Middleton, Wisconsin, and its products were originally purchasable by mail order only. In 1998, Pleasant Company became a subsidiary of Mattel after Mattel purchased the company. When Mattel purchased the company, they began to make several changes to the doll structure. About This Doll: My mother won this doll at an auction between 1993 and 1995. Addy has stayed in my closet ever since, never played with. She can't wait to find her new home!
