Description: Rare original cabinet card of Charles J. Murphy (1832-1921), signed in ink on the back. Murphy was a Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. Served as First Lieutenant and Quartermaster of the 38th New York Volunteer Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at the First Battle of Bull Run, Virginia on July 21, 1861. Citation: Took a rifle and voluntarily fought with his regiment in the ranks; when the regiment was forced back, voluntarily remained on the field caring for the wounded, and was there taken prisoner. Cabinet card is 6.5" x 4.25". Good or better antique condition with some mount wear and a light curve to the mount. Shipping: Choice of First Class (flat photo mailer) or boxed Priority Mail.
