Description: Antique Victorian Flow blue marked as shown Royal Doulton Burslem pattern is called Arundel Biscuit Barrel made in the early 1920's Great piece for collector and would make a memorable vintage gift. About 6 1/2" tall x 5 widest. this has no chips and no wear but there is as shown some crazing on the bottom and inside , cannot see from the outside the flow blue and the brush gold gilt are perfect The Flow Blue story is interesting in itself. It's unknown how it really began...a happy accident then intentionally? Sometimes called "Flown Blue". At any rate there was a period in early1800s-early 1900s beginning in Staffordshire England potteries where the blue was "flowed" during firing. By the Victorian era and late 1800s porcelain was a desirable item and Flow Blue became a trendy thing. Collectors even value cracked dishes.
