The curve concentrates force on a smaller area, making cutting easier. The knife can chop as well as carve, pick and slice. It's also the best single-edged blade shape for thrusting, as the edge cuts a swath that the entire width of the knife can then pass through without the spine having to push aside any material as other knife profiles like the drop point and sheepsfoot would. Effective for tasks from food preparation including cleaning, skinning, scaling fish and game. Also an effective weapon with penetrating power second to only a dagger.
