Description: COLLINS NO. 191 MACHETE W/ORGINAL NO. 13 SHEATH. Collins & Company, of Collinsville, Connecticut, was a world-famous maker of machetes and heavy-duty knives. It's model No. 191 is the one selected by the U. S. Marine Corps to be issued to Marines at the beginning of WWII. However, this one was a civilian purchase, rather than a Marine issue, even though it is virtually identical to the Marine issue. You can tell that because it comes with its original Collins No. 13 sheath, which the Marines did not purchase. Also, it has a hole through the handle for a lanyard loop, which the Marine machetes did not have. And, finally, it also has the original Collins & Company black sticker, written in Spanish, on the right side of its blade. As shown by the photos, it is in excellent condition, and does not appear to have been sharpened or used, with only some surface rust on its steel parts from handling. If you have any questions, please ask before buying or making an offer. Thanks.
