It is not new and the storage box has been written on and has some discoloration.The interior storage area looks nice and clean, and the outside has a very nice color. The storage box label calls this color purple and it almost looks grayish to me but see the photos for yourself. The glossy finish looks new on the music box. It could have some very minor scuffs or scratches and the only scuff I am noticing at the moment is a small area on the bottom under the artists names (last photo).
