Description: Very rare Sansui XR-Q9 Direct Drive Quartz Lock Full Automatic Turntable with Gloss Piano Black Plinth. This table will start, the platter rotates and changes speeds, but the auto start/return and cueing mechanism are not working properly. The XR-Q9 has a clutch system that allows light to pass through louvers on a cam lever to operate the tonearm and cueing system. When the clutch plate, gear, or bushings get dirty or a sensor lamp goes out, the auto features and cueing fails to operate properly. This maintenance is not terribly difficult but it is tedious requiring steady hands and dexterity. It can operate manually but this table is renowned for its smooth, quiet performance and worth bringing back to fully operational condition. This is a very heavy table and has the original Sansui SV-101 dual magnet cartridge that needs a stylus. The pictures did not come out well the table is so shiny it was catching reflections everywhere. It is in outstanding cosmetic condition with a beautiful plinth and minor scratches on the dust cover with weak hinge springs. It appears in a couple of pictures there was a scratch on the bottom left side of the plinth near the platter but it was lint. The feet are in excellent condition. It is being sold for parts/not working Vintage audio equipment is sold as is with no warranties or returns. Any issues or problems with any equipment will be clearly described in the listing.
